It is that time of year again and if you are holidaying in White River, or close to it, you are probably looking for a place to sit down for a delicious Christmas lunch. Whether you are looking for something more traditional, or if you are in the mood for something a little more laid back, there are plenty of options close to and in White River where you can go for lunch this year.
Christmas is all about gathering together, relaxing and indulging after a long hard year of work. It is also the one time of year when many are going away for their annual break, often staying in self-catered accommodation. This limits the means to make a full Christmas spread, but it does give you the opportunity to dine at one of the area’s fantastic restaurants, many of which are going all out this year to give their guests an unforgettable experience.
Where to have lunch this Christmas?
- Greenway Woods
Since we have a restaurant on site as well as a couple of nearby options, if you aren’t keen on going too far from “home” be sure to ask reception for their suggestions for places to settle down for Christmas lunch. A stay at our White River accommodation is sure to tick all the boxes, as we not only have some of the finest rooms but we are also close to some of the best attractions, so finding a place nearby to have lunch is just an added bonus.
- Magnolia Restaurant and Café
Magnolia is a high-end, absolutely stunning restaurant and café situated in the exquisitely beautiful Casterbridge Centre. This year the restaurant is once again hosting a delicious Christmas lunch spread in the form of a hot, cold, and dessert buffet that will leave you spoiled for choice.
- Tindlovu at the Gardens
At the botanical gardens in Nelspruit sits the Tindlovu restaurant which has been built into the exquisite natural surroundings of the popular gardens, with views of the waterfall and river. There will be a communal Harvest starter table with a fine selection of delicious food, and after that the main dinner will be served, followed by a selection of desserts.
- Bohemian Groove Café
If you want your Christmas day to be a little different, take a drive up to the village of Kaapsehoop and have lunch at Bohemian Groove Café. It is essential to make a reservation and to pay for your meal up front, as the seating is limited. Dinners can look forward to a full 3 course meal.
- Kay’s Café
Also up in Kaapsehoop, Kay’s Café out on the beautiful horse trails offers an intimate dining experience and this year will play host to a one of a kind Christmas lunch. It is essential that you make your reservation, as not only is this a small venue but it is one that is quite popular with the locals.
